When Edie + Aaron reached out to me, the original plan was for them to elope at sunset by the Lake, since it’s the closest thing Oklahoma has to the ocean.
They are both from Hawaii, so this felt the most like home.
Their inquiry form was THE sweetest. Edie said this: “I chose you because I feel like you could capture who we are as a couple. Simple and genuine. You speak simple and genuine words that are shown through your work. Just by reading your Instagram bio – I already love who you are. I really can’t explain how being simple can still be the most powerful thing. That’s what Aaron and I are like – and I am confident that you will be able to understand and capture that easily.”
Yes, I absolutely shed a few tears.
After some crazy, unexpected life stuff, their elopement had to be postponed for a year or so, but we still got together to take some beautiful photos. Their families joined us to celebrate, even though it was no longer their wedding day.
They brought a beautiful set up, so they could sit together in the grass + sing love songs to each other. (Cue more tears from me.) This was the most magical, meaningful session I have ever had the pleasure of photographing. I’m honored to now call these two friends, and I can’t wait for them to bring me to Hawaii one day(:
